About the author: John T. Patten is a Bundjalung and Yorta Yorta man with Anglo-Celtic and Saami ancestry. He works as a cultural educator, historian, and artist. He was raised in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, on Bundjalung Country around the towns of Grafton and Yamba, and the remote Aboriginal community of Baryulgil. His identity is informed primarily by his Aboriginal heritage. To this day the only non Indigenous person in his family that he has ever met, was his mother.
